Lima, summer of 1992. Elena and her daughters, Lucia and Aurora, are preparing to leave Peru—shaken by social and political unrest—for the United States. Torn by conflicting emotions, the three women face the looming separation: from their country, their family, their friends, and from Carlos, their father and Elena’s ex-husband. Once a charming but eccentric figure, Carlos had been absent for some time. Now, as their departure draws near, he makes a last-minute attempt to reconnect with his daughters…

Sauvages

After conquering the world — and all of Switzerland — with Ma vie de Courgette, the Valais-born animation filmmaker Claude Barras returns with his second feature film. Sauvages takes us deep into the jungles of Borneo. In a village threatened by deforestation, young Kéria, together with his cousin and a baby orangutan he has rescued, will face every obstacle to fight the destruction of the rainforest. Savages uses the magic of stop-motion animation to highlight the urgency of the climate crisis and the struggles of Indigenous communities. A deeply moving film.

A film by Claude Barras, CH, FR, BE, 2024. 87’, French version. Ages 6+ (recommended 8+).

Moon (Mond)

The latest gem from Ulrich Seidl’s production company
Sarah, a former martial arts professional, leaves Austria to coach the three daughters of a wealthy Jordanian family. Mond is a gripping political thriller, carrying the unmistakable mark of its producer — the company of renowned Austrian filmmaker Ulrich Seidl.
