At its meeting on 27 September 2017, the Council of State appointed Olivier Steimer as President of the Foundation of the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts, which will be constituted on 1 January 2018. From then on, Olivier Steimer will ensure the implementation of this new foundation under public law, then his mission will be to achieve the strategic and cultural objectives set by the Council of State at the beginning of each new legislature. Olivier Steimer’s term of office as Chairman of the Board of Directors of BCV, a position he has held for fifteen years, expires on 31 December 2017, in accordance with the provisions of the Act Organising the Banque Cantonale Vaudoise.

Olivier Steimer is particularly familiar with the mcb-a project. In 2011 he was involved as president of the jury of the architectural competition for the new mcb-a and then, in 2015, the second competition for the building that will house the Musée de l’Elysée and the mudac on the PLATEFORME 10 site. Since 2012, he has chaired the support foundation PLATEFORME 10, which has already raised CHF 60 million in private donations for this public-private partnership project. A presidency to which he puts an end to devote himself to the mcb-a Foundation.
