Photographer Giles Duley – the exhibition “THE THINGS THEY CARRIED: OBJECTS DE MORT”

As part of the Ukraine Mine Action Conference 2024, to be held in Lausanne on October 17 and 18, Plateforme 10, Photo Elysée and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) are pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition “The Things They Carried: Objets D’mort”, and to a public meeting with Giles Duley. The British photographer, victim of an anti-personnel landmine, is the United Nations Global Advocate for People with Disabilities in Conflict and Peacebuilding. He will present his work to Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
IL presents 20 photographs of anti-personnel mines used in various deadly conflicts, from Afghanistan to Ukraine and Vietnam. Photographed as precious objects, these devices of death are transformed into objets d’art. Through his testimony, Giles Duley alerts us to the role of the arms industry in the tragedy of anti-personnel mines.
Reserve your place now for the opening event and public meeting with Giles Duley on October 17, 2024, from 4:30 to 5.20 pm in the MCBA auditorium.
Free admission, booking essential.
